Turmeric in Ayurveda

As we all know, turmeric is one such herb that needs no introduction. Used in most of Indian delicacies, turmeric or haldias it is commonly known, it has various medicinal properties that makes it one of the key ingredients for any cure.

Turmeric has great healing powers and has been used in Ayurveda mostly for purifying blood, treating skin ailments, as well as in treatment of heart, liver and lungs diseases. It is also considered to be a great anti-bacterial, which helps in healing wounds and bruises.

Turmeric has been proven to be extremely effective in treating diseases like arthritis, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes and gastro intestinal disorders. Apart from curing ailments, Turmeric also acts as an excellent mosquito repellent and is the best medicine for a sore throat as well.

It also helps in striking a balance in the female reproductive and lactation systems, and in men, it purifies and improves the health of semen.

Ways to Use Turmeric:

  • Add it to your daily meals or any exotic food as Turmeric enhances the taste of the food. No Indian food is complete without adding turmeric, thanks to its rich colour and taste.
  • Turmeric is also known as great preservative.Adding turmeric to curd, milk, cottage cheese or any other dairy products extends its shelf life to up to 12 days.
  • It can be used as a pesticide. Sprinkle it on the floor or stagnant waters to prevent mosquitoes, antsand termites from breeding.
  • Add a dash of turmeric powder in a glass of milk or water and ensure great health and an even healthier mind.
